Sathavahana Ispat Limited has informed the Exchange that the Company has taken a shut down of Pig Iron plant effective from August 05, 2011 situated at Haresamudram village, Bommanhal (M), Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh for a period of six weeks due to non availability of Iron Ore in the Bellary-Hospet belt consequent to the Hon'ble Supreme Court's ban on mining. The plant operations will be resumed depending upon availability of Iron Ore and stocks are built up. Meanwhile company is exploring various options to procure Iron Ore from alternative sources, available if any.

Sathavahana Ispat Limited has informed the Exchange with reference to the news item appearing in the news paper dated July 27, 2011 that "The Company categorically denies any such move to increase the holding of Stemcor Ag., by stake sale of promoters. As of now the Company does not intend to issue any further shares above 15% to Stemcor AG., nor intends to divest any management control. The news item is therefore, hereby denied".
